• Tape a brush to a ruler to make it really long and slightly unmanageable. Attach your paper or canvas to the wall or easel, stand back and paint. Your marks will be looser, less controlled. Exciting!
• splash or flick water on wet paint, leave it to sit for a while till the paint is almost dry then dab with a cloth – the paint will lift off where the water has splattered
